I recently decided to put together a small Blood Angels army using just the Primaris miniatures to represent 'true-scale' Marines. The starting point was the Primaris Lieutenant from the Dark Imperium set - I didn't particular like the pose or feel of the stock mini, so I started hacking bits off without a firm plan in mind.

[40K - Imperial Guard] 15th Hyrkan Armoured Sentinel
Growing up on a diet of the original '70's Star Wars movies, Mechwarrior games on the PC and Battletech novels meant that I was always going to be a fan of the Imperial Guard Armoured Sentinel miniature.
You just can't get past those sexy chicken legs.

[40K - Imperial Guard] 15th Hyrkan Ogryn Bodyguard
I've always liked the way in which the Imperial Guard approaches warfare. Need to take ground - send in wave upon wave of infantry. Assaulting a heavily fortified position - massed tanks in an armoured column. Need a dedicated bodyguard for your highly-ranked officers - find a hulking brute, cover him in steel plate and give him a riot shield the size of a small car.

[40K - Imperial Guard] 15th Hyrkan Mortar Weapons Team
Assembling and painting an Imperial Guard army is similar to fighting a war of attrition, with time and effort acting as your rank and file troops. You just have to keep throwing yourself into the meat grinder in order to take each objective.

[40K - Imperial Guard] 15th Hyrkan - Ministorum Priest
Nostalgia is funny thing.
Those rose-coloured glasses one uses to look at the past are definitely not a prescription pair. I originally started collecting Warhammer 40,000 back in the final days of Rogue Trader and as a result my formative years were spent painting 2nd Edition lead (and then white metal) miniatures. If asked to name some of my favourite models, I'd probably reel off a list from the early to mid nineties based on hazy memories.

[40K - Imperial Guard] 15th Hyrkan - Platoon Commander
A new year, a new army - thus rises the 15th Hyrkan, a freshly-minted regiment raised from the Imperial planet Hyrkan mentioned in the Gaunt's Ghost series of novels by Dan Abnett. Commissar-General Delane Oktar and his boys may be long gone, but hopefully these lads can uphold the legacy.
