[40K - Imperial Guard] 15th Hyrkan Ogryn Bodyguard

I've always liked the way in which the Imperial Guard approaches warfare. Need to take ground - send in wave upon wave of infantry. Assaulting a heavily fortified position - massed tanks in an armoured column. Need a dedicated bodyguard for your highly-ranked officers - find a hulking brute, cover him in steel plate and give him a riot shield the size of a small car.

I must admit, during second and third edition 40K when I was an active gamer, I didn't care for the Ogryn miniatures. The proportions were hideously askew (yes, even for grossly mutated human gene-stock) and they had cartoonish look that, for me at least, was out of place even by the standards of the time.

After returning to the hobby last year after an absence of over a decade, I immediately fell for the new Bullgryn miniatures. Hefty, menacing and hard-as-nails - I was sold. I decided to have a crack at a one-off to begin with, hence the Ogryn Bodyguard instead of a full squad of Bullgryn.

Oh, so you think darkness is your ally? But you merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t see the light until I was already a man, by then to me it was only blinding.

I'm quite fond of this guy, and I have the sneaking suspicion that the Hyrkan 15th might be receiving further muscle-bound reinforcements in the future.

For now I just have to get Bane's muffled voice out of my head everytime I look at the big guy.
